Diagnostic laparoscopy

Procedure
During the procedure, the patient is usually placed under general anesthesia. Small
incisions (usually 0.5 to 1.5 centimeters in size) are made in the abdominal wall, and carbon dioxide gas
is introduced to create a space and allow better visualization. The laparoscope is then inserted through
one of the incisions, and additional instruments may be introduced through other incisions as needed.
The surgeon or healthcare provider examines the organs and tissues, takes any necessary samples, and
photographs the findings for documentation.
